Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow.
I like this poem for many reasons. I like the honesty and the truth of the poem. I agree that one should
hold on to dreams because at the end of the day, that is all you have.

"It is difficult to get the news from poetry, yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there" -William Carlos Williams

This is an interesting quote said by William Carlos Williams. I happen to disagree with it though. He seems like a poet trying to spark interest in his work and I don't think that it is appropriate or mature. Men do not die miserably, both metaphorically or literally, due to not reading poetry every day. I think I have actually lost respect for William Carlos Williams as a poet through this quote.
